Upcoming Federal Legislation

HR 1505 – The Land Grab Bill would put our public lands in the hands of the Department of Homeland Security giving over 1/3 of our federal lands in Montana to their control. We fought this bill, and we will be there to fight it again whenever it gets reintroduced in 113th United States Congress.

Sportsman’s Act of 2012:

Introduced by Senator Jon Tester, the Sportsmen’s Act of 2012 would have been the largest package of sporting bills passed by congress in a generation. The bill enjoyed incredible support across the aisle and received a procedural vote of 94-5 at one point. However, due to Senator Tester’s re-election, and partisan politics above all else, this bi-partisan bill, which contained mostly provisions written by Republican lawmakers, was killed under the guise of financial responsibility.

Current efforts are underway to resurrect the bill. If those efforts fail, then we have no doubt that Senator Tester will reintroduce the bill during the 2013 Congress. Montana Hunters and Anglers Action is highly supportive of this effort, and will fight alongside our friends at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, Mule Deer Foundation, Pheasants Forever, and other sporting groups to ensure that it passes in the very near future.

Montana Hunters Anglers Action! needs the financial support of Montana sports-men and women who care deeply about access to public lands and wildlife habitat. Put your money into action that will stand up for your unique world class Montana outdoor heritage whenever it comes under threat at EVERY level of government!
